OUR STORY
Entrepreneurs are incredibly diverse, but the one thing they all have in common is a story. Where they came from, why they do what they do, and where they are headed.
Stories have the power to connect, to draw in, to turn the status quo into “A-HA!” Stories convey corporate culture, values, and history. Stories unite and inspire people. They can even be used to teach, influence, and change lives.
There are 3 types of business stories:
- Stories we tell ourselves
- Stories we tell other people – both inside or outside of the organization
- And “the rest of the story”. (i.e. what is really going on) We know it, but often lack a safe place to share it.

Some days we write the story and other days it feels like the story writes us.
Do you find that feeling is hard to describe to someone who hasn't been there? A weird combination of exhilaration, fear, optimism, pressure, excitement, gratitude, “stuckness”, overcoming, defiance, nervous, calm, uncertain, lonely, in awe, frustrated, and confident . . . and that's just between waking up and lunchtime. Hey there, I’m Jeff Mains, CEO of Champion Leadership Group™. Thanks for stopping by! Oh yeah, with me is Thor. You'll see him around occasionally.
I’ve been an entrepreneur for many years and experienced lots of ups and downs. Five solid startups putting up more than $200M in combined revenue, four successful exits to strategic buyers, and lots of high moments. There have also been a handful of other great ideas that either went nowhere or completely crashed and burned, leading to some pretty low moments too. I share both freely because the lessons learned on every part of the journey are powerful.
One thing that I have absolutely learned is that we are always stronger together than trying to do it all on our own. That word TOGETHER has been a BIG factor in my success.
Over the years I have had great mentors, coaches, accountability partners, advisors, peers, and friends who have helped me on my journey. That is my story and what inspired me to start this growth accelerator in 2010. I wanted to create that kind of resource network for other business leaders where we grow, succeed, and share what is working TODAY.
